The film Unfurling the World; The Voyages of Irving and Electa Johnson will be screened in LAMI’s Building G.
Gary Jobson, film Producer, narrator, America’s Cup winner, accomplished sailing coach and race competitor, author and VP on the Board of World Sailing will present opening remarks and lead a Q&A following the film.
This event will provide all LAMI supporters, volunteers, crew and sailing enthusiasts an opportunity to learn about the fascinating careers of our vessel name-sakes, Irving and Electa Johnson.
As tall ship sail training pioneers, Irving and Electa circumnavigated the globe 7 times with novice youth crew. They were frequent contributors to National Geographic and Cruising World magazines during their active careers.
Electa Johnson was most recently profiled in the March 2020 National Geographic magazine article Women of Impact.
Sunday’s event is being lead by LAMI Volunteers who recently completed their First Aid/CPR/AED training at LAMI. They are bringing this event to you to not only entertain and educate but to encourage you to donate to their campaign to equip our vessels with additional safety equipment such as AEDs. The event is free and any donations made to LAMI is tax deductible to the extent of the law as a registered 501(c)3 Nonprofit organization.
